x Kuhn broke the mould The reigning model is that there must be no link between Sociology and Science/Technology. This is because such a link would threaten the career paths of academics in each of the separated disciplines http://www.electromagnetism.demon.co.uk/Y65BRILL.htm . Kuhn is a counter-example. Bridging between Sociology and Science/Technology, his writing is banned from science/technology courses by the reigning model. The exception is that he is taught in sociology courses. Kuhn’s role in sociology courses arises because the battle for relative status between sociology and science is more important than the reigning model, which demands that no link exist between sociology and science/technology. Sociology has an
overriding ambition, which is to achieve status parity with science. This is
discussed in my article The Betrayal of science by 'modern physics', http://www.ivorcatt.com/2924.htm . |
